Rz. Coptidis Huang Lian 15g Clears Heat, drains Dampness, drains Fire, relieves toxicity and clears Heat topically.
Rx. Arnebiae seu Lithospermi
Zi Cao 30g Clears Heat. cools the Blood, relieves Fire toxins, encourages rashes and clears Damp-Heat from the skin.
Sesame Oil   1 liter  
Yellow Beeswax   50g

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Small coin sized red or pale red or moist pale red or dark or hyper pigmented lesions located on the scalp, body, extremities, and other areas that increase rapidly
  • There are covered scales which are tightly covered or heaped up and are easily shed when scratched or thick hard and adherent
  • Removing the scale reveals a light pink shining membrane Beneath the membrane are petechiae
  • Longstanding lesions may overlap
  • Lesions may be painful or fissured
  • Itching may be intense

NOTES

  • Put Zi Cao into a pot with 1 liter vegetable oil and bake until brown. Filter out the dregs and add powdered Huang Lian and Beeswax. Reheat if necessary to dissolve wax. Pour into a glass jar with an airtight lid and allow to congeal. Apply topically 3-5 times per day.
