CONTRAINDICATIONS
  • Large doses (30-60g) taken long-term can lead to dizziness, and/or palpitations (diuresis leading to potassium Deficiency).
  • Contraindicated for those with jaundice not due to Damp-Heat.
  • Use with caution for those who have diarrhea due to Spleen Deficiency.

  • Concurrent use with diuretics such as chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide, furosimide (Lasix), bumetanide (Bumex) and torsemide (Demadex) may lead to increased elimination of water and electrolytes.

Jaundice.

 

 

  1. This herb is important for treating urinary and biliary calculi.
  2. Both Jin Qian Cao and Spora Lygodii Hai Jin Sha facilitate urination, unblock painful urinary dysfunction and are commonly used together to treat Stone Lin leading to rough, painful urination. Hai Jin Sha clears Heat and unblocks Lin Syndrome, but also enters the Blood level to cool the Blood to treat Bloody Lin. Jin Qian Cao excels at facilitating the removal of Dampness and relieving jaundice and is often used to treat Damp-Heat jaundice and gallstones.
  3. Both Jian Qian Cao and Hb. Artemisiae Scopariae Yin Chen cool heat, remove Dampness, clear Liver Heat, benefit the Gallbladder and are often combined to treat Damp-Heat in the Liver/Gallbladder.Yin Chen is bitter, cold descending and draining and much more fragrant than Jin Qian Cao, which makes it better able to break up turbid Dampness, reduce jaundice and promote urination. It assists the Liver more that the Gallbladder. Jin Qian Cao is sweet, salty, slightly cold, softens hardnesses, expels stones and assists the Gallbladder.
  4. Hb. Lysimachiae Christinae Si Chuan Da Jin Qian Cao clears Heat, eliminates toxins and is best for gallstones.
  5. Hb. Glechomae Lian Qian Cao clears Heat, eliminates toxins and is best for Kidney Stones.
