  1. This herb is used as an aphrodisiac, astringent, appetizer, anti-pyretic, diuretic, hemostatic, refrigerant, anti-diarrheal, and tonic.
  2. The fruit is used as an intestinal astringent, aphrodisiac, and anti-inflammatory.
  3. It is used for leprosy, urinary discharges, fractures, sore throat, and anemia.
  4. In Kashmir, the upper portion of the stem is used in poultices as a dispersing agent and the expressed juice in eye diseases.
  5. In Unani Medicine, it is used in cases of sexual debility, spermatorrhea, general debility, fatigue, tuberculosis, intermittent fevers, dysentery, dry cough bilious affections, bleeding disorders, anal fissure, lumbago, dental caries and sore throat.
  6. If there is itching on her lower abdomen, thigh or breast, take water chestnut.
  7. Water chestnut fruits with milk are used in nervous and general debility, seminal weakness and leucorrhoea
  8. The ethanolic extract of the fruits is endowed with potential anti-ulcer activity.
  9. Trapa bispinosa can be used as anti-microbial agent.
  10. It exhibits strong anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
  11. The water extract of the seed resists ascites cancer and Liver cancer.
  12. This herb is said to treat erysipelas.
  13. One source says that this herb Clears Heat Accumulation from Exogenous Invasion, cures consumptive diseases, dispels alcohol poisoning and removes stubborn poisoning.
  14. To treat warts, rub the fresh herb on the area once or twice a day. Frequently occurring warts can be treated by using the stalk.
