POINT: ST-3 (STOMACH-3)

NAME: JULIAO

English: Great Crevice

LOCATION:

  • With the eyes looking directly forward, this point is located directly below the pupil, level with the lower border of the ala nasi, on the lateral side of the nasolabial groove.
  • Located directly below ST-1 Chengqi at the level of the inferior border of the ala nasi.
  • Located directly below the pupil of the eye level with the bottom of the nostrils.

NEEDLING:

  • Perpendicular insertion 0.3 to 0.4 cun.
  • Transverse insertion to join with such points as ST-4 Dicang or SI-18 Quanliao.
  • Slanted insertion, 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.

COMMAND FUNCTIONS:

  • Meeting point of the Yangqiao channel.

  • Eliminates Wind
  • Dissipates swelling
  • Alleviates pain
  • Removes obstructions from the channel
  • Stops lacrimination

  • Pain and swelling of the external nose and cheek
  • Epistaxis
  • Toothache
  • Swelling and pain of the lips and cheek
  • Clonic spasm
  • Leg Qi
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Eyelid spasm
  • Deviation of the mouth and eyes
  • Aversion to Wind and Cold in the face and eyes
  • Superficial visual obstruction
  • Excessive lacrimation
  • Swelling of the knee
  • Facial paralysis
  • Nasal obstruction
  • Rhinitis
