- Ge Jie invigorates the Yang without the side effects of Dryness and Heat.

- This herb is said to cure paralysis due to apoplexy and abdominal masses due to Blood Stagnation.
- This herb has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
- One source says that this herb diminishes Blood Stasis and cures tumors.
- For scrofula, calcine and pound into a powder. Take 0.3g with wine each time.
- For pestilence, calcine one Gecko and blend together wit 75g of Faeces Bombycis Can Sha (washed twice in water and sun-dried) and 2-2.5kg wheat flour. Dry and grind into a powder for oral administration. Take 15-30g before each meal with a decoction of Cacumen Platycladi Ce Bai Ye.
- Of Ge Jie, Hippocampus Hai Ma, Hb. Epimedii Yin Yang Huo and Fr. Cnidii She Chuang Zi, Ge Jie is less able to fortify Yang, but it does have the special ability to calm wheezing and stop coughs by assisting the Kidney's ability to grasp Qi and strongly tonify the Lung Qi, which the others do not have.
- Both Ge Jie and Cordyceps Dong Chong Xia Cao tonify the Lungs and Kidneys, warm the Yang, augment Jing, and settle coughs and wheezing. Ge Jie is salty, neutral, calms wheezing, and stops cough by assisting the Kidneys to grasp Qi. It also strongly tonifies the Lung Qi. Dong Chong Xia Cao calms wheezing and stops cough by descending rebellious Qi. It also transforms phlegm, stops bleeding and stops sweating by reinforcing Wei Qi.
- Oil-crisped Gecko You Su Ge Jie smells better and is easier to break up into pieces. It is best for tonifying the Lungs, augmenting Jing, grasping Qi and settling wheezing.
- Wine-fried Gecko Jiu Chao Ge Jie is better able to tonify the Kidneys and fortify the Yang and is often used for impotence due to Kidney Yang, Jing and Blood Deficiencies.
