POINT: SP-9 (SPLEEN-9)  

English: Yin Mound Spring
Also Known As: Yin Tomb Spring
  • On the inferior border of the medial condyle of the tibia, in the depression between the posterior border of the tibia and the gastrocnemius muscle.
  • With the knee flexed, this point can be found at the inferior margin of the medial condyle of the tibia, in the depression between the posterior margin of the tibia and the gastrocnemius muscle.
  • On the lower border of the medial condyle of the tibia, in the depression posterior and inferior to the medial condyle of the tibia.
  • On the medial side of the lower leg, in a depression in the angle formed by the medial condyle of the tibia and the posterior border of the tibia. Note: Run the finger in the groove posterior to the medial border of the tibia until it falls into the depression below the tibial condyle. This point lies at the same level as GB-34 Yanglingquan.
  • Straight insertion along the posterior border of the tibia 1 to 3 cun. Sensation: local distention and soreness, possibly extending downward.
  • Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.
  • Perpendicular insertion, 1 to 1.5 cun.
